Most headaches are not tumours — but with the signs above, a contrast MRI scan is needed.

In short: A first seizure, a new or changed headache with vomiting, weakness, speech or vision changes, or confusion needs a doctor’s check and usually an MRI. In children, repeated morning vomiting, unsteady walking, a head tilt or a new squint should never be dismissed. Many brain tumours are treatable.
