Why people believe it

People naturally hope to feel better quickly after starting a new treatment.

What the evidence shows

Immunotherapy works by helping the immune system recognise and attack the cancer, which can take weeks or months. The first scan to check the response is often done after about two to three months. Some people respond quickly, others slowly, and some not at all.

What you can do

Be patient with early results, and ask your team when and how your response will be assessed.
