If liver cancer cannot be operated on, nothing can be done?

Many treatments are available for liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. They can control the cancer and help people live longer, better lives.

Treatment for liver cancer has advanced a great deal. Options include ablation; TACE, which delivers chemotherapy directly into the tumour's blood supply and then blocks it; radioembolisation (Y-90), which delivers radiation to the tumour from inside the liver's blood vessels; stereotactic radiotherapy (SBRT); and medicines such as immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Which of these is right depends on the cancer, how well the liver is working, and the person's general health. Newer combination medicines have improved survival compared with older tablet treatment, and some people with advanced liver cancer now live for several years.
