Every lymphoma needs surgery to remove the affected lymph nodes?

Surgery is usually done to diagnose lymphoma, not to treat it. Most lymphomas are treated mainly with medicines, sometimes with radiotherapy.

With most cancers, removing the tumour is the main treatment, so people expect the same for lymphoma.

Because lymphoma is usually spread through the lymph system, removing nodes doesn't cure it. Surgery is mainly used to take a biopsy. Treatment is usually chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy, such as rituximab, sometimes with radiotherapy. A few lymphomas in specific organs may involve surgery.
