If a pancreatic tumour touches a major blood vessel, surgery is impossible?

The pancreas sits next to several major blood vessels. When a tumour touches a vein for a short length, experienced surgeons can often remove that part of the vein with the tumour and repair it. Involvement of major arteries is more difficult. After chemotherapy, scans are repeated to see whether surgery has become possible.
