Leukaemia can never be cured?

Most children with ALL can be cured. Some people with AML and other leukaemias also achieve long-term remission or cure. Outcomes vary greatly by type and risk.

Modern treatment cures most children with ALL. Some adults with ALL and AML are cured, and APL is now one of the most curable leukaemias. Many people with CML live a normal lifespan on daily tablets, and many people with CLL live for years with good quality of life. The outlook depends on the type, genetic features, age and response to treatment.
