Stage IV lung cancer means treatment is useless?

Treatment for advanced lung cancer has changed a great deal. Targeted tablets and immunotherapy can control the disease for months and, for some people, years, often with fewer side effects than older treatments. People with only a few areas of spread may also benefit from treating those areas directly with surgery or radiotherapy. Palliative care, given alongside cancer treatment, helps control symptoms such as pain and breathlessness.
