In CAR-T therapy, a person's own T-cells are collected, modified in a laboratory to recognise lymphoma cells, and given back through a drip. It has been a major advance for some relapsed B-cell lymphomas, and some people stay in remission for years. But not everyone responds, and it can cause serious side effects, such as cytokine release syndrome and effects on the nervous system, so it is given in specialised centres. It is now available at some centres in India.
