Radiotherapy has no role because myeloma affects the entire bone marrow?

Radiotherapy can relieve bone pain, treat localised myeloma tumours (plasmacytomas) and help manage local problems. A single plasmacytoma is often treated with radiotherapy alone.

Radiotherapy is very effective at relieving pain from a damaged bone, preventing fractures, and treating pressure on the spinal cord or nerves, which is an emergency. When myeloma appears as a single tumour, called a solitary plasmacytoma, radiotherapy alone can often control or cure it.
