థైరాయిడ్ ఆపరేషన్ తర్వాత ప్రతి రోగికీ రేడియోధార్మిక అయోడిన్ అవసరమా?
Radioactive iodine is used selectively, based on the type of cancer and the risk of it returning. Many low-risk thyroid cancers don't need it.

Radioactive iodine (RAI) can destroy any thyroid tissue or cancer cells left after surgery. It is recommended for higher-risk cancers, and for cancer that has spread, but for many low-risk cancers it offers little benefit. When it is given, you usually follow a low-iodine diet beforehand and take precautions to limit contact with others for a few days afterwards.
