Breast cancer is contagious?

✕ Not true
Fact

Breast cancer cannot spread from one person to another.

What to do

Eat together, sit together, hug. What a woman with breast cancer needs most is her family close by.

Why people believe it

In some homes, a woman with breast cancer quietly gets her own plate, her own towel, her own room. It is usually done out of fear, not unkindness.

What the evidence shows

Breast cancer cannot spread through touch, sharing food, utensils or towels, or living together. Family members are completely safe.
