CML patients always need lifelong hospital-based chemotherapy?

CML is treated with daily tablets called tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as imatinib, taken at home. They are available in India, including lower-cost generic versions. The leukaemia is monitored with a sensitive blood test (BCR::ABL1 PCR), usually every three months at first. Some people who have had a very deep response for several years can try stopping treatment, with frequent monitoring, and many stay in remission.

Take your tablets every day, without gaps; missing doses is the most common reason CML treatment fails. Never stop treatment without your specialist's advice.
