If leukaemia returns after treatment, nothing can be done?

Leukaemia that returns may be treated with further chemotherapy, targeted drugs, immunotherapy, CAR-T cell therapy or a transplant, depending on the disease and the person.

Many people whose leukaemia returns can achieve a second remission, and some are cured, often with a stem cell transplant. Newer treatments, including antibody therapies and CAR-T cell therapy for some types of ALL, have improved the outlook after relapse.
