A liver biopsy makes cancer spread through the body?

With modern biopsy techniques, cancer cells spreading along the needle track is uncommon. Liver cancer is also unusual among cancers: in people with known risk factors such as cirrhosis, it can often be diagnosed confidently from the typical pattern it shows on a contrast CT or MRI scan, without needing a biopsy at all. A biopsy is advised when the scans are not clear enough, or when it will change the treatment.
