Radiotherapy has no role in pancreatic cancer?

✕ Not true
Fact

Carefully selected patients may benefit from chemoradiotherapy or stereotactic radiotherapy (SBRT), mainly to control the tumour locally. It is not recommended for everyone.

Radiotherapy, sometimes combined with chemotherapy, or given as a few very precise high-dose sessions (SBRT), can help control a tumour that can't be removed, and may sometimes be used before surgery. It can also relieve pain. A survival benefit has not been shown in every situation, so it is recommended selectively.

What you can do

Ask whether radiotherapy has a role in your treatment, and what it would aim to achieve.
