Brain tumour Myth Buster #26 · Treatment & survival

Herbal or ayurvedic medicines can dissolve a brain tumour?

✕ Not true
Fact

No herbal or traditional medicine has been shown to shrink or cure a brain tumour. Some interfere with treatment or harm the liver.

Why people believe it

People fear brain surgery and radiotherapy, and stories of cures spread quickly.

What the evidence shows

Brain tumours are treated with surgery, radiotherapy and medicines tested in clinical trials. Some herbal products affect the liver or interact with chemotherapy, seizure medicines and blood thinners. Delaying proven treatment allows tumours to grow, and lost brain function may not come back.
