If there are no swollen lymph nodes, leukaemia is impossible?

Leukaemia can occur without any swollen nodes. Its symptoms often come from the bone marrow not working properly.

Leukaemia starts in the bone marrow, inside the bones. Its main symptoms come from the marrow being crowded out: anaemia (tiredness, paleness, breathlessness), low platelets (bruising and bleeding) and too few healthy white cells (infections and fevers). Some people do have swollen nodes, or an enlarged spleen or liver, but many don't.

Don't wait for lumps. Tiredness, paleness, bruising or repeated infections are reasons enough to ask for a blood count.
