Pap smears detect all cancers of the female reproductive system?

Pap and HPV tests are designed to screen for cervical cancer. They don't reliably screen for ovarian, womb or other gynaecological cancers.

These tests sample cells from the cervix only. There is no reliable screening test for ovarian or womb cancer in women at average risk, so knowing the symptoms matters: bleeding after menopause, persistent bloating, or pelvic pain.

Keep up cervical screening, and report symptoms promptly, even if your last Pap smear was normal.
